Navigating Life's Challenges When You Are In the Thick of Things

At almost 59 years old, I can honestly say I’ve seen a lot. I’ve also learned the importance of recognizing when I need a reset — and that time is quickly approaching. One thing life has taught me is this: it stops for no one. We either learn how to care for ourselves along the way, or we get lost in the shuffle.
Over the years, I’ve made it a habit to recognize the signs that say, “Okay Denise, it’s time for a timeout.” We are conditioned to work, work, work and rarely take time for ourselves. That’s why I’ve started prioritizing routines that help me relax and reset, because if I have nothing left to give, who can I truly be good for? You simply can’t pour from an empty cup.
So as you prepare for work each day, remember this: the work and the problems will always be there. What may not always be here is you if you don’t take care of yourself. I’m at an age now where I unapologetically prioritize me. I refuse to let anything or anyone steal my joy. I control the narrative, and that is a beautiful thing. With age comes maturity, wisdom, and most importantly, discernment.
So I encourage you to take that vacation you’ve been putting off and finally book it. Go sit somewhere quiet by the beach — or wherever brings you peace — and simply enjoy the moment. Time moves quickly, and we have to hold onto the meaningful moments whenever we can.
Now, I’m going back to planning my reset. I hope you’ll plan one too.
xoxo
Denise
